F.A.Q.
Questions, answered gently.
Everything you might want to know before your first Hava session. Can’t find what you’re after? Get in touch.
Do I need to be good at art?
No. Hava is about the experience of creating, not achieving a perfect outcome.
What if I haven’t made anything since school?
This is your sign to start creating again. Hava gives you the space, materials and the opportunity to do just that.
What should I bring?
Bring yourself and a willingness to stay open to the experience. Hava will provide everything else.
What should I wear?
Come in comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little paint on. We’ll provide an apron to wear during the session, but we recommend avoiding anything you’d be upset to get messy.
Are materials included?
Yes — Hava provides all the materials during the session.
Can I come alone?
Yes, absolutely. Hava is an opportunity to look inward and connect with yourself. Coming alone may give you the space to experience that even more openly.
What if I don’t know anyone?
That’s completely okay. Many people come to Hava on their own, and you don’t need to know anyone to feel welcome. You’re invited to arrive as you are and connect with others only if and when it feels natural.
What happens if I don’t like what I’ve made?
At Hava, we invite you to shift your focus from the finished piece to the journey, the learning and the experience of making. Sometimes the most meaningful part of the process isn’t what you create, but what comes to the surface along the way.
Is there an age limit?
Hava is currently designed for women aged 18 and over. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Is there accessibility?
Due to the age of the building, the lifts are not currently in use — the studio can only be accessed by climbing one flight of stairs. If you have any questions about accessibility before booking, please get in touch or visit themillartscentre.co.uk.
Is there parking at the premises?
There are pay and display car parks adjacent to The Mill, but we advise our patrons to arrive for courses and events in good time to allow for parking. The short stay car park by the building charges £1.10 per hour for a maximum of three hours. After 6pm, there is no charge and no restriction on length of stay.
Long stay parking is available at The Castle Quay shopping centre multi-storey car parks; these are open 24 hours and are a 5-minute walk to The Mill — see castlequay.co.uk/parking.
Where is the nearest station?
The Mill is a 7-minute walk from Banbury train station — see chilternrailways.co.uk for times and connections.
What if I need to cancel or change my booking?
We understand plans change. Let us know at least 72 hours before the session and we’ll offer a full refund or the option to transfer your place to another available session. We’re unable to offer refunds or transfers within 72 hours of the session, as materials and studio preparation are planned in advance. You’re also welcome to transfer your place to someone else — just let us know their name at the time of transfer.
Can I book a private Hava session?
Yes. Whether you’re planning a private gathering, celebration or something more bespoke, Hava can create an intuitive creative experience for your group. Simply fill in the form on the contact page and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
A note on accessibility
The Millers’ Room / The Mill Arts Centre is housed in a building where, due to its age, the lifts are not currently in use — the studio is accessed by one flight of stairs. We want every visit to be comfortable, so if you have any accessibility questions at all before booking, please reach out to us directly; we’re happy to talk it through.
